Defection? Governor Wike, Samuel Ortom, Makinde Make Final Decision

On Thursday the governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom announced that he and other aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party have decided to remain in the party.

Recalls that the governor was unhappy after PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar choose Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta state as his running mate over him.

Also, Ortom is one of the PDP governors who are empathetic to the plight of Governor Wike, who had earlier lost the presidential ticket to Atiku.

Speaking as a guest on Arise News TV on Thursday, July 21,  Gov.  Samuel Ortom announced that he and other aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party have decided to remain in the party.

According to him, he recently met with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State in London, where they took the decision.

“We are not going to defect to another party,” He said.

While stressing that there is an urgent need for the PDP presidential candidate to reach out to Governor Wike for full reconciliation, the Benue governor hinted that the Rivers state governor is a big factor who has remained in the PDP even when he (Ortom), and Atiku at some point left the party for the ruling party, APC.

He expressed the possibility of a united PDP after Wike and other aggrieved members are pacified.
