A Missouri man identified as Beau Rothwell, 31, has been sentenced to life in jail for killing his pregnant wife, Jennifer Rothwell, 28,.
It was gathered that Jennifer went missing in 2019.
However, before she went missing, the lady, who was six weeks pregnant, had searched on her phone for “what to do if your husband is upset you are pregnant”.
Sadly, her body was found badly beaten a week after she was reported missing by Beau Rothwell and this led to her husband being arrested.
During the court trial, Beau admitted to killing his wife of four years.
However, in hopes of being found guilty of a lesser manslaughter charge, the man insisted it was not planned and rather happened during a heated argument over an affair he was having with another woman.
According to him, he hit the back of his 28-year-old pregnant wife with a mallet in November 2019 and this sent her stumbling toward their home’s garage.
He said he followed her and continued to attack her, ultimately killing her.
In an attempt to cover up the murder, Beau bought cleaning supplies and attempted to bleach his dead wife’s blood from the house.
He then drove her car to an intersection and abandoned it there, and tossed a blood-stained tarp and the cleaning supplies away together in a nearby dumpster.
Beau said he went into “panic mode” in the aftermath of the murder.
Speaking further, the man confessed that he dumped her naked body in the woods off Highway 61, and then reported her missing. He also sent concerned texts to her cellphone and took part in a search party.
Speaking about the sad incident, Prosecutors argued the husband was a careful planner. They also showed texts between him and another woman in the months leading up to the murder and a list of pros and cons he compiled on whether he should leave his wife.
A camera also captured him buying cleaning products a day before Jennifer Rothwell went missing.
After he was arraigned to court, Beau Rothwell was found guilty of first-degree murder and lesser charges earlier in April.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole on Friday, July 8.
St Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell, said;
“We issued this case of murder first and as was stated in sentencing today, we never made any other offers. That was not an option. We felt that this individual needed to be held accountable for his actions and that’s what we were intent on doing,”
During his sentencing hearing, Beau Rothwell apologized to his late wife’s family.
“To Jennifer’s family, words cannot describe how sorry I am. This should have never happened.” He said.
