Oprah Winfrey has lost her, father, Vernon Oprah to the cold hand of death.
The sad news of his death was announced on Saturday, July 9, by the TV host.
Taking to her Instagram page, the 68-year-old media mogul paid tribute to her 88-year-old father by reposting the video of the surprise gathering she threw for him on the Fourth of July.
According to her, her father, who had been ill for some time, died on Friday, July 8, “with family surrounding his bedside.”

Oprah Winfrey wrote;
“Vernon Winfrey 1933-2022
Less than a week ago we honored my father in his own backyard. My friend and gospel singer Wintley Phipps saluted him with song. He FELT the love and reveled in it until he could no longer speak. Yesterday with family surrounding his bedside, I had the sacred honor of witnessing the man responsible for my life, take his last breath. We could feel Peace enter the room at his passing.
That Peace still abides. All is well. Thank you for your prayers and good thoughts”
